What We Do
Introduction
Teens Saver Bangladesh is an initiative that mainly deals with the adolescent mental development of 13-19 year old teenagers. It was founded on March 21, 2021, Teens Saver Bangladesh has been operating in various parts of Bangladesh, North Bengal and Dhaka. We believe that adolescence is the transition period from a child to an adult, a time when many mistakes are made due to misguidance and lack of good influence. We are working to ensure that teenagers don’t have to face this type of problem. Our main goal is to make a teenager possess healthy mental health. We are the first organization in Bangladesh which is working only on adolescent mental health.
The reason for the initiative
Children between the ages of 13 and 19 are usually called teenagers; this crucial period is called adolescence. Adolescence is a stage in which a child becomes an adult and develops their reproductive capacity. We can see major physical and mental changes in boys and girls during this period. For this reason, they need special attention and care. There are 3.6 million teenagers in Bangladesh which are 22 per cent of the country’s total population. However, the thought of providing them with suitable care has not yet received much attention. Boys and girls are involved in various misdeeds at this age due to mental stress. Teens Saver Bangladesh aims to ensure the healthy mental health of many teenagers.
Our Initiative
Kotha Shuni
Kotha Shuni, a one-on-one free counselling service for teenagers during the Covid pandemic. Kotha Shune is the local Bengali word which means listening to a speech. The service, which was initially free and private, has since helped 352 teenagers who were suffering during the pandemic. The initiative has been successful, leading to the development of an AI chatbot to enhance the service. The chatbot will be programmed to solve unshareable problems and ensure privacy, making it more reliable for teenagers. The initiative was successful in 2020, and the company plans to upgrade its plan by creating an AI chatbot that will maintain its privacy. The chatbot will be programmed to help teenagers feel comfortable sharing their problems, ensuring they feel comfortable sharing their experiences.
Rise & Realize
Rise & Realize, the awareness initiative focuses on schools and colleges by sending self-assessment surveys to teenagers about their mental health, interests, skills, problems, sufferings, and thoughts. The content is divided into three parts: teens, teachers, and parents. Based on the results, workshops are held and a one-to-one free counselling session is provided. The authorities are also informed to help teens in the future. The campaign raises awareness about teens’ potential and their problems, aiming to reach all school-colleges nationwide. The workshops have received positive feedback from attendees, who express gratitude for the help they receive.
Mental Health Olympiad
Teens Saver Bangladesh is hosting an Olympiad focusing on mental health, aiming to raise awareness and promote positive mental health practices among teenagers. The competition is open to all, regardless of background or academic performance, and includes activities such as stress management, self-esteem, social skills, emotional regulation, and mindfulness. The interactive challenges allow participants to learn from each other and build supportive relationships. The final challenge brings together all the skills gained, and the project designs a mental health awareness campaign and a mental health resource guide for teenagers. Participation in the Olympiad helps teenagers develop resilience, coping skills, and promote positive mental health practices.
Teens Tune
Teens Tune is the first teenager-based podcast in Bangladesh, created by “Teens Saver Bangladesh”. It features real stories from teenagers, their parents, and psychologists, discussing various topics such as school life, career ambitions, hobbies, relationships, and challenges. The podcast encourages open discussions, breaking stereotypes, and celebrating diversity within the generation.
